چکیده

RESULTS: The 8 patients ranged in age from 30 to 62 years old; seven males and one female with injuries at fingertip. Mean follow-up period was about 8 months. All the adipofascial island flaps survived completely and provided excellent soft tissue coverage, and all the skin grafts were taken well. There were no complications, such as infection or re-exposure of bone. And the donor site showed no significant morbidities, such as hematoma and dehiscence. During the follow-up period, there was no atrophy and the appropriate soft tissue padding was provided. All patients were satisfied with round fingertip contour.

Systematic Review and Comparative Meta-Analysis of Outcomes Following Pedicled Muscle versus Fasciocutaneous Flap Coverage for Complex Periprosthetic Wounds in Patients with Total Knee Arthroplasty

BACKGROUND In cases of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) threatened by potential hardware exposure, flap-based reconstruction is indicated to provide durable coverage. Historically, muscle flaps were favored as they provide vascular tissue to an infected wound bed. However, data comparing the performance of muscle versus fasciocutaneous flaps are limited and reflect a lack of consensus regarding th...

LATE EMBOLECTOMY FOR LIMB OR KNEE SALVAGE IN ACUTE LOWER LIMB ISCHEMIA: A NEW PROTOCOL

Embolectomy has long been the gold standard for treating limbs acutely threatened by arterial occlusion. Delayed embolectomy has not been investigated adequately due to the belief that accompanying mortality and morbidity render the case futile. Following our previous experience with late arterial repair for leg or knee salvage I we applied the same principle to limbs threatened with prolo...

Reversed Sural Flap for Coverage of Heel Defect Following Marjolin's Ulcer on Frostbite

Marjolin's ulcer following frostbite is a rare occurrence. Our review of literature revealed that only 23 cases have been reported. In most instances heel is involved and the most common associated malignancy is squamous cell carcinoma. We present a 69-year-old male patient with squamous cell carcinoma arising over a frostbite scar in heel 45 years after cold injury. This case is unique with res...

Inferior Limb Salvage by Combined Free-tissue Transfer and the Crane Principle Revisited

Aggressive treatment of ischemia of the lower extremities has decreased the number of amputations in both diabetic and nondiabetic patients; combined vascular reconstruction and microvascular free-flap transfer has been used to improve distal perfusion and cover large tissue defects caused by the critical limb ischemia during the past 30 years. We present our experience with a 71-year-old diabe...

Salvage of limb and function in necrotizing fasciitis of the hand: role of hyperbaric oxygen treatment and free muscle flap coverage.

We report a case of necrotizing fasciitis of the hand treated by urgent debridement followed by serial debridements, hyperbaric oxygen, and delayed free muscle flap coverage. After control of the infection, a major soft-tissue defect remained on the dorsum of the wrist and hand, exposing all extensor tendons. A rectus muscle free flap was used for wound coverage and salvage of the exposed tendo...
